Cut from text, not from the timeline

Transcript-first editing treats spoken words as a searchable decision surface and the timeline as the final verification surface. This is a workflow proposal for Reclip, not a claim about processing that is already available.

A recorded conversation can be represented as text with timing attached. That changes the first editing question from "where do I cut" to "which sentences survive". The final selection still has to be checked against the picture, delivery and source rights.

Read it before you watch it

A searchable transcript can make it faster to locate candidate passages without scrubbing an entire recording. Reclip is designed to retain a timestamp on every line so the original delivery remains one click away.

Where it still breaks

Three places, consistently: demonstrations that make no sense as text, jokes whose timing lives entirely in the delivery, and any moment where the visual carries the point. For those, the transcript tells you where to look, not what to keep.
